Biography

Melville lives in the idyllic rural area of Moniaive, Dumfriesshire where he paints full-time & tutors privately in drawing & painting.
He studied at Edinburgh & Cumbria Colleges of Art & also holds a degree in art history.

Melville's art, which is concerned with light, colour and subject matter is based on his immediate home environment and the Isle of Arran and Sutherland. Melville is inspired by dramatic mountains, sea and uses colour to express the mood of the subject.
Melville has exhibited widely in Dumfries and Galloway in Scotland (R.G.I. Glasgow & Royal Scottish Society pf Painters in Watercolour) and with Binotti Galleries in France and America. He is a former President of Dumfries & Galloway Fine Arts Society.
